Scarlett Jia Tames, Vice President of Acquisitions at Clear Capital, won the 2025 NMHC Emerging Leaders Young Guns Pitch Competition at the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) Annual Meeting held at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
Now in its 14th year, the Young Guns Pitch Competition is a highly anticipated event where rising stars in the multifamily industry showcase their investment acumen by pitching a deal to a panel of seasoned industry veterans acting as a mock investment committee. This year’s challenge focused on a distressed multifamily asset in Austin, TX, requiring participants to craft a compelling workout and go-forward strategy.
Scarlett competed against Ryan Thie, Vice President of Asset Management at The BAM Companies, and Tony Ensbury, Vice President at Eastdil Secured. The judging panel featured leading industry executives, including Kimberly Grimm (EVP, Chief Development Construction Officer, Continental Properties), Antonio Marquez (Principal & Managing Partner, Comunidad Partners), and Ricardo Rivas (CEO, AOG Living).
Scarlett’s presentation stood out for its creative investment strategy, incorporating a ground lease structure and flexible living model to optimize investment performance. As Vice President of Acquisitions at Clear Capital, Scarlett leads the firm’s investment strategy for multifamily acquisitions across the Western U.S., focusing on value-add, core-plus, and strategic repositioning opportunities.
The NMHC Annual Meeting is the multifamily industry’s premier gathering, bringing together top executives, investors, and policymakers to discuss market trends, investment opportunities, and policy developments. The Young Guns Pitch Competition continues to serve as a launchpad for the next generation of leaders in the multifamily space, providing industry-wide recognition and high-level networking opportunities.
