URS Center in Denver was the recipient of the prestigious TOBYŽ Award (The Outstanding Building of the Year), presented by the Building Owners and Managers Association of Metro Denver (BOMA) in the Suburban Office Category for square footage ranging from 100,000 up to 249,999. URS Center, a Class A office building, is owned by San Diego-based Westcore Properties.
As a TOBYŽ Award winner at the local level, URS Center, located at 8181 East Tufts Ave, has the opportunity to compete in the same category at the regional competition in April 2012. Regional winners will then advance to compete in the International TOBYŽ Awards. Judging at the international level will occur in April and May 2012, and the awards will be presented during the BOMA International Conference held in June of that same year.
TOBYŽ Award recipients are recognized by BOMA for being the best in commercial buildings and are scored on the basis of building inspection, description and standards, community impact, tenant and employee relations, energy conservation, environmental, regulatory and sustainability; emergency preparedness and security standards; and building personnel training.
Westcore has owned and managed the building since 2006. The company has implemented a number of innovative building practices which have contributed to URS Center receiving LEED Silver certification in 2010.
URS Center is a six-story, 185.3k sf office building that includes a two-story lobby complete with a full glass atrium and cherry wood finishes throughout. The building offers underground parking, locker and shower facilities, an on-site deli and full-time day porter. The building is currently 98 percent leased to tenants including URS Corporation, Century Business Services and Employee Mutual Casualty Company.
