A 19.6k sf R&D building in Sorrento Mesa traded in a $9.1 mil ($464/sf) deal. The property is located at 9560 Waples, east of I-805 on the south side of Mira Mesa Blvd, and was vacant at the time of sale.
The property was sold by Ohana Kala, an investment entity owned by Andrea and Tom Gilman. The Gilmans had owned the former tenant in the building, Biosero, which they sold to Sweden-based BICO Group in December 2021. Biosero has since relocated to 4770 Ruffner, nearby,
The buyer was Hammer Ventures. Todd Holley, SIOR, with VOIT Real Estate Services represented the seller in the deal. In 2016, Holley represented Ohana Kala LLC in their acquisition of the building. And, as Biosero outgrew their facility, Holley assisted them in relocating to the Kearny Mesa building with twice the square footage.
