Cisterra Development has begun construction on Radian, a 255k sf, 22-story retail and residential high-rise tower in Downtown San Diego’s East Village neighborhood. Groundbreaking was celebrated at a ceremony with San Diego City Council President Pro Tem Stephen Whitburn, East Village Association, Save Our Heritage Organisation, San Diego County Building and Construction Trades Council, Swinerton, ACORE Capital and Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, among many others.
Located along the southeastern corner of 9th Ave and G St, Radian will offer 241 housing units, while the project’s ground floor and basement level will feature a 36k sf Target retail store. The exterior of the existing, historic Farkas Store Fixtures building will be enhanced, preserved, and thoughtfully incorporated into Radian’s exterior design. Cisterra Development’s plan for the Farkas Store Fixtures façade was unanimously approved by the Save Our Heritage Organization and the City of San Diego’s Historical Resources Board.
Radian’s residential apartments will range in size from studios to three-bedroom units and penthouse units on the top two floors. Radian residents will be able to enjoy a premium indoor/outdoor fitness center, game room, event/dining room, business center/lounge, dog park/wash, outdoor theater and fully amenitized rooftop pool/hot tub area with views of Petco Park, the Pacific Ocean, San Diego Bay and Coronado.
San Diego-based Carrier Johnson + CULTURE is the building architect, with Gensler handling the interior design and Swinerton as the general contractor. ACORE Capital is providing the construction loan with CBRE procurement. The Koman Group, Wermers Properties and Spruce Capital, with Berkadi-Moran procurement, are joint venture partners with Cisterra Development.
