BLT Enterprises Finishes Renovations at Hollywood Soundstage Property

11/06/23

BLT Enterprises has completed a $1 mil renovation of BLT Studios, its wholly-owned and operated film studio and soundstage property located at 6309 Eleanor Ave in Hollywood. The renovations included interior, exterior, and HVAC upgrades to improve the functionality and aesthetics of the studio spaces for BLT Studios clients.

The original building at BLT Studios, which houses the 9.5k sf Stage Two, was built in the 1920’s. Stage Three was built in the 1940’s and is the smallest of the three stages at 4.8k sf. The largest soundstage, Stage One, is 10.9k sf, and was built around 1980. The remainder of the property’s space includes hair/makeup stations, production company suites, offices, and private rooms for celebrities and talent. In addition to the three soundstages, BLT Studios offers a full complement of services that a client might require during production including equipment rentals, lighting, catering, security, and parking.

Given the three buildings’ ages and consistent use, an interior refresh was high on the list for the renovation project. The entire interior of all three studios, both office and backstage areas, was repainted a bright white to ensure a consistent look and feel throughout the property. New aesthetic furniture was installed to increase the space’s functionality and comfort. Within the sound stages, all exposed duct work and soundproofing was painted black to improve the operation of cameras and to ensure there would be zero reflection of stage lighting. Sound Stage One’s cyclorama was completely stripped of 25 years’ worth of paint that had grown to over two inches thick and refinished to enhance future filming with a smooth surface. Ultimately, each soundstage was returned to a “like-new” state that can meet the current standards of any Hollywood production.

Completed in September, the exterior renovations included a new PVC roof with a useful life expectancy of over 20 years, a new HVAC system, the repaving of the back lot, and updated LED exterior lighting. A total of thirteen new, energy efficient air conditioning units were installed across all three stages. The venting and duct work for the HVAC system is fully insulated to eliminate any ambient noise created by the air conditioning.
