The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, an 85-room, full-service, luxury boutique resort located in north San Diego County’s exclusive enclave of Rancho Santa Fe, traded hands in a $100 mil transaction. The asset sits on a 21-acre site at 5951 Linea Del Cielo, seven miles east of Cardiff in San Diego County.
Built in 19231, the hotel includes two rental residences and 20k sf of common area, restaurant and retail space. Hotel amenities include a 3k sf spa, a saltwater pool, tennis courts, and the Morado restaurant.
The property was sold by Steve Hermann hotels, who bought the resort last year for $43 mil. Since then, Hermann has initiated an extensive $15 mil renovation of the property, currently underway. When fully operational in the fourth quarter of this year, it will be positioned as one of the most preeminent and exclusive destinations in California.
Sonnenblick-Eichner Company represented Steve Hermann in the transaction. The resort was purchased by an institutional investment fund.
“We were able to generate interest in the acquisition given the quality of the renovation and that it was offered unencumbered by franchise and management agreements. The buyer recognized an incredible opportunity to acquire a five-star luxury resort in a market with extremely high barriers to entry,” said Elliot Eichner, a Principal and Co-Founder of Sonnenblick-Eichner Company.
