Construction is humming along at the site of the iconic Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, which is undergoing a $2.5 bil, multi-building redevelopment by owner Woodridge Capital Partners, led by CEO Michael Rosenfeld. The property is located at the southwest corner of Avenue of the Stars and Constellation, as seen in this construction pic taken two days ago.
The massive project entails the addition of two 44-story towers designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, situated behind the hotel, which is at 2025 Avenue of the Stars. The new buildings are expected to add 268 residential, for-sale condo units to the area.
The other major component of the project is a re-do of the classic Century Plaza Hotel, originally designed by Minoru Yamasaki and constructed back in 1966. The property will be re-branded as a Fairmont Hotel and will include 63 condo units and 93k sf of commercial space in addition to 400 hotel rooms. Design work for the hotel project is being handled by Gensler and Marmol Radziner.
The Century Plaza development is planned for completion in 2019.
