The Santa Cruz City Council approved an application for entitlements by Swenson on a mixed-use development at 530 Front St in Santa Cruz. The proposed project is located on the corner of Front St and Soquel Ave, the gateway to downtown Santa Cruz.
The eight-story, 276-unit development will be a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units—including 37 below-market rate units. It will also contain roughly 7k sf of ground floor commercial space that will include both retail and a public restaurant overlooking the river.
Along with featured amenities such as a fitness center, storage units with bike storage, a dog washing station, a game room/lounge/kitchen, and a rooftop deck and two private courtyards, the development will also offer public Amphitheater seating and access to the highly anticipated, new Santa Cruz Riverwalk.
Expected to add a significant supply of housing to combat the ongoing housing crisis in Santa Cruz, the project is estimated to be completed in summer of 2026.
