Another building is on its way at the 1.5 million square foot EmeryStation campus in Emeryville as San Rafael-based Wareham Development has started construction on EmeryStation West, the first ground-up office project in the city in nearly ten years. For Wareham, this building comes on the heels of a 110k SF office and life sciences building that Wareham completed in Berkeley last year.
EmeryStation West, with its dramatic modern design, will rise nine stories consisting of research, office and lab space on seven floors containing 250,000 square feet sitting above a two-story parking podium. The new building will have transit accommodations at the street level to serve Amtrak trains, buses and EmeryGoRound shuttles along with taxis, limos, car shares, and private cars. Retail stores and street vibrancy at the plaza level will welcome visitors to an open sky garden atop the parking podium. And for environmentally conscious tenant, which these days is all of them, EmeryStation West is designed to meet LEED Gold standards. Wareham is marketing the building to life sciences companies.
With construction expected to take roughly 18 months, the building should be completed around the end of 2017.
