PUBLIC Hotel West Hollywood Lands $116.5 Mil in Refinancing

9/09/26

The PUBLIC Hotel West Hollywood, a 137-key luxury lifestyle hotel prominently located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, has been refinanced with a $116.5 mil bridge loan. The money will replace the acquisition and construction facility placed in 2024 to fund the purchase and conversion of the property from the former Standard Hotel into the PUBLIC Hotel West Hollywood.

PUBLIC Hotel West Hollywood, located at 8300 Sunset Blvd, is the product of Ian Schrager, the iconic hotelier and co-founder of the legendary Studio 54, and replaces the storied Standard Hollywood, revitalizing one of the best locations on the Sunset Strip. The comprehensive renovation reimagines the property from the ground up, delivering 137 fully redesigned guestrooms and suites alongside an all-new slate of amenities, including a brand-new rooftop deck with 360-degree views of Los Angeles, a nightclub, and multiple food and beverage outlets.

The property also includes highly valuable static signage along Sunset Boulevard that is in the process of being upgraded to digital, a rare and high-visibility media asset on one of the most trafficked advertising corridors in the country. Widely regarded as one of the most anticipated hotel openings in Los Angeles in 2026, the property re-establishes the site as a landmark destination on the Strip.

A Cushman & Wakefield team, led by Rob Rubano (Executive Vice Chair and Head of Equity, Debt & Structured Finance), JP LeVeque (Executive Vice Chair) and Joe Lieske (Managing Director), represented the borrower, famed Hotelier Ian Schrager, and Ed Scheetz. Driftwood Capital and Benefit Street Partners provided the financing.
