The developers of Grand Prix Auto Club, a planned, state-of-the-art garage condo redevelopment project in San Diego, took a big step forward after securing new financing for the acquisition and repositioning of the project.
Located at 8108 Mercury Ct, the project will transform an existing industrial facility into the ultimate destination for car enthusiasts and collectors. The 2.08-acre project will feature 23 for-sale condo units ranging from 900 sf to 2.8k sf with the option to combine units to create larger spaces for extensive automotive collections.
The facility represents a unique concept in San Diego's real estate market, catering specifically to automotive enthusiasts seeking premium storage and social spaces. Each garage condo will come ready to occupy with polished concrete floors, painted walls, LED lighting, electric roll-up doors and fire systems. The units include plumbing for restrooms and wet bars, plus electrical infrastructure for future HVAC, satellite and internet connections.
Beyond the individual garage condos, Grand Prix Auto Club will feature an exclusive owners-only clubhouse spanning 4.4k sf. The upscale amenity space includes a lounge area, open bar and rooftop deck designed for relaxing, networking and hosting private events to showcase automotive collections.
Owner and car enthusiast himself, Bob Mueller, said “This is the first of its kind in San Diego, but already proven in other areas. The concept is ownership based and not for rent, which has many advantages. It will be a great way to store and show case car collections.”
Construction is expected to commence in 2026, with project completion anticipated by 2027. The development is strategically located in San Diego's central submarket of Kearny Mesa, providing convenient access to major transportation routes and the greater region.
Brad Vansant and Jenna Frakes with JLL arranged the financing for the project.
