Dominium Finishes One Phoenix Housing Project While Breaking Ground on Two Others

10/30/23

Dominium has been busy with three housing projects in Phoenix. The firm held a grand opening of 308 units of affordable housing for working families in South Phoenix on October 24 and broke ground on 657 units of both family and senior affordable housing in Goodyear on October 25.

The Goodyear project is Arizona’s largest affordable multifamily new construction development and also Dominium’s largest in the state. Dominium has been in the affordable housing industry for more than 50 years and manages more than 38,000 apartments in 18 states. Dominium and its partners are investing over $1 bil in the state to develop affordable housing for essential workers and Arizona’s seniors.

The firm’s grand opening was for Vista Ridge, a 437k sf, 308-unit apartment complex for individuals earning no more than 60% of area median income, located at 2050 West Southern Ave in Phoenix. Designed for working families, residents will be able to access the South Central light rail extension.

The property consists of 36 one-bedroom, 130 two-bedroom, and 142 three-bedroom units in 12 three-story buildings. Each apartment home will include a walk-in closet, granite countertops, low-energy windows, low-flow water fixtures, and a patio or balcony. The community has a fitness room, clubroom with fireplace, game room, pool, outdoor fire pit, community kitchen, yoga studio, children’s activity center, pet wash station, and courtyard with cornhole boards. WD Construction was the contractor and Todd + Associates served as the architect.

Dominium and its partners broke ground on two adjacent properties, the 492k sf Estrella Springs, and the 247k sf Suncrest Vista, located at 16895 W. Van Buren St in Goodyear. Estrella Springs will bring 396 units of affordable apartment homes for families, and Suncrest Vista will bring 261 units of affordable senior apartment homes in the winter of 2025. To qualify for this housing, residents must earn less than 60% of the area median income.

Dominium has incorporated features that will benefit the community for years including landscaping improvements to reduce water usage, artistic features designed by local high school students, and a flex space within the community clubhouse available for use by the local elementary school.

Estrella Springs will consist of 12 one-bedroom, 192 two-bedroom and 192 three-bedroom units. Suncrest Vista will feature 76 one-bedroom, 153 two-bedroom and 32 three-bedroom units. Each apartment at Estrella Springs and Suncrest Vista will include amenities such as a walk-in closet, granite countertops, in-home washer and dryer, modern kitchens and flooring and a covered balcony. The project will be constructed by W.D. Construction, a joint venture between Weis Builders and Dominium Construction and Architectural Services.
