Greystar is set to break ground later this month on a new housing project in Portland’s Slabtown neighborhood. The centrally located buildings will feature 364 units across two blocks between Northwest 19th and 20th Avenues, two of the last remaining parcels of Slabtown. The project is slated for completion in 2024.
The development, designed by SERA Architects, includes a five-story, 151-unit building, and a mixed six-and-seven-story, 213-unit building, both featuring brick exteriors. Greystar, SERA, and landscape architect Lango Hansen, worked closely with neighboring St. Patrick’s Catholic Church officials to ensure the new development would not overpower the 130-year-old historic landmark including the programming of an adjacent pocket park.
Located in Portland’s Northwest, the Slabtown neighborhood is a unique mix of residential and commercial buildings with walkable streets, shopping, and vibrant restaurants. With easy access to employment centers around the Portland metro, the Pearl District, Forest Park, and Downtown, the project will provide new housing opportunities in Slabtown.
Greystar secured construction financing for the Slabtown project from ING Capital LLC. According to Aaron Keeler, Managing Director of Development for Greystar, the project will provide job opportunities in the Portland market through the construction and management of the development.
