Starlight Union Buys Former Covina Bowl in $2 Mil Deal

7/24/26

Starlight Union has purchased the Covina Bowl, an iconic Googie 1950s commercial building in Covina, for $2 mil. The 10.1k sf property is located at 1060 W San Bernardino Rd, in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley.

Starlight Union specialized in remodeling, custom design, and innovative lighting solutions for residential and commercial properties. The firm will use the space as a smart home retail showroom.

Built in 1956, the building was designed by renowned mid-century architectural firm Powers, Daly & DeRosa and listed in the California Register of Historic Resources. The Covina Bowl closed in 2017 and was incorporated into a townhome development by Trumark Homes.

Starlight Union will honor the legacy of the Covina Bowl by preserving its distinctive character and restoring the iconic building as a place for the community to gather, visit, and create new memories for generations to come.

The revitalized property will retain many of its original signature features, including the building’s modern interpretation of ancient Egyptian architecture with its striking pyramid entrance, the historic terrazzo concourse, the iconic 60-foot Covina Bowl sign, and the original coffee counter. These preserved architectural details and nostalgic elements will continue to celebrate the unique character that has made Covina Bowl a beloved local landmark.

Progressive Real Estate Partners Senior Vice President of Retail Leasing and Sales Roxy Klein represented the seller, Trumark Homes. The buyer was repped by Tony Wang and Eva Wang of Ameriway Realty.

“The buyer was attracted to this property because of its rich history, prime Covina location, and proximity to Home Depot, which delivers consistent traffic and brand exposure,” said Klein. “This transaction underscores the continued strength of the owner user segment in today’s market. Properties that pair legacy, location, and flexible reuse potential continue to resonate with buyers who recognize value that extends well beyond traditional investment metrics.”
