Drew Petersen has joined Newmark as Executive Vice President and Market Leader of the firm’s San Francisco office. In this role, Petersen will be expected to further expand the firm's Bay Area advisory capabilities and strengthen collaboration across local and regional teams. He will work closely with Northwest Market Leader Jon Mackey.
Petersen brings decades of leadership and coaching experience to Newmark. After starting his career in equity asset management, Petersen developed a coaching skillset while serving as a player personnel and development coach in both the WNBA and NBA. He has since provided performance consulting services to Fortune 500 executives, entrepreneurs and professional athletes, including mental performance work for a select group of athletes participating in the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. Most recently, he served as Co-Market Leader at JLL’s Sacramento office, as well as in acquisitions for Strada Investment Group.
The Bay Area native’s move to Newmark is a homecoming in more ways than one. Petersen began his commercial brokerage career as a leasing specialist for Cornish & Carey, which became a wholly owned Newmark subsidiary in 2014.
“San Francisco is one of the nation’s most dynamic commercial real estate markets, where continued success depends on developing professionals who adapt, lead and perform at a high level in an increasingly dynamic environment,” said Mackey. “Drew has spent his career delivering real outcomes on both the brokerage and client sides of our business. His background in performance coaching sets him apart — that's a unique skill set to our industry, and will be a differentiator to drive further growth in our office.”
