In construction news from a few weeks ago, work has topped out on the new Student Services building at California State University San Bernardino’s Palm Desert location. The project received a $79 mil budget allocation due to the support of California State Assemblymembers Eduardo Garcia and Chad Mayes. It is being built by C.W. Driver Companies.
The new 23.7k sf Student Services building will provide ample space for students to study, collaborate, and unwind after classes. Notable features the two-story building will contain include:
• Multi-purpose rooms and classrooms
• Group study rooms
• A student health center
• A recreation and wellness center
• Food services
• Library
• Campus bookstore
• Career Center
• Advising and tutoring center
• Cross-cultural and affinity centers
• University police offices
The building includes a storage and loading dock space, while the site will include the renovation of over 200 new parking stalls. It also consists of significant sitework and landscape improvements, utility extensions, and new outdoor recreation areas.
As the Coachella Valley continues to grow in population, the new Student Services Building at CSU’s Palm Desert campus continues support education and development opportunities within the region. It will serve up to 4,000 students, a significant increase from the ~1,900 students it serves now. The project will also free up 10.2k sf of space that will be repurposed for additional faculty offices and classrooms. It is expected to complete by 2027.
