Saronic Technologies Inc has agreed to a long-term lease for 83.5k sf of space in San Diego’s Sports Arena/Airport submarket. The deal is at 2727 Kurtz Street—a two-story industrial warehouse/flex research and development building situated on 3.1 acres.
The building, which includes 190 on-site parking spaces, was constructed in 1979 and received a 14.1k sf office expansion in 1990. Additional property features include five rear dock-high loading positions, with an additional dock-high loading position on the West side of the building, one passenger and one freight elevator, and two separate and secured fenced yard areas.
Most notably, 2727 Kurtz Street is located directly across the street from the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific), formerly the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SPAWAR). The property also offers premium freeway access to San Diego’s I-5 and I-8 and a one-mile commute to San Diego International Airport.
Mark Lewkowitz, Evan McDonald and Kurtis Blanchard with Colliers represented the joint venture ownership/landlord venture of Realterm, and LaSalle Investment Management. Savills Shane Poppen and Louis Bickett repped Saronic Technologies, a leading provider of Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs) for naval and maritime forces. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
The property’s central location has long served as a prime investment for industrial owners/users, attracting Realterm and LaSalle, which acquired the asset in 2016, and multinational technology giant Amazon, which vacated the property earlier this year after occupying it since 2015.
