The (PCHA) has acquired Hidden Firs, a 56-unit apartment community at 15008 A Street South in Tacoma, WA. The price was not given out.
Situated just outside the Tacoma city limits, Hidden Firs is a low-density, tree-lined community spanning two acres. The property appealed to the housing authority due to its resident profile—with many tenants eligible for housing vouchers—and its location in an area of focus for long-term affordability preservation.
This marks the first time the property has changed hands since it was developed by the seller, a longtime family ownership group. Kidder Mathews brokers Austin Kelley and Ted Sipila represented PCHA in the off-market acquisition.
“This transaction reflects a broader trend we’re seeing across the South Sound region: public agencies stepping in to secure housing stock before it’s lost to private market pressures,” said Kelley. “Closing an off-market deal of this nature required a high degree of coordination, particularly with HUD financing, but both parties were aligned in their goals.”
The Hidden Firs acquisition supports Pierce County Housing Authority’s mission to maintain affordability and access to housing as regional costs continue to rise.
