In a merger of architectural/design firms, Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects (FPBA), a leader in life science design, has acquired CAS Architects, a Bay Area firm known for its expertise in advanced technology and life science design. This strategic acquisition, effective Dec. 1, 2024, brings together decades of experience designing technical spaces across California.
“FPBA is thrilled to expand our Bay Area presence by partnering with a firm that mirrors our core values,” said Jeana Renger, executive vice president and managing principal of the San Francisco office at FPBA. “CAS Architects shares our commitment to responsive client service, technical excellence and fostering a supportive environment for professional growth.”
FPBA is an employee-owned company with 34 staff, headquartered in San Diego with a satellite office in San Francisco. CAS Architects is a 20-person firm based in Mountain View, recognized for its expertise in the science and technology market sectors, including data centers, semi-conductors, micro-electronics, renewable energy and life sciences.
This acquisition strengthens FPBA’s presence in the Bay Area, providing greater market diversity, opportunities for professional growth and enhanced service to clients. It also facilitates a smooth ownership transition for CAS Architects, positioning employees as co-owners and stakeholders in the company’s future. José Cotto, president of CAS Architects, will remain as president and continue to lead the Mountain View office. CAS Architects will operate under the name CAS Architects, An FPBA Company, maintaining its established identity while benefiting from the expanded resources and support of FPBA.
With generative AI creating unprecedented demand for data centers, this partnership combines the expertise and resources of FPBA and CAS Architects to meet that need, better serve clients, empower employees and fuel innovation.
