Sares Regis Entity Granted Approval for 56-Unit Res Development in Redwood City

7/11/23

Regis Homes Bay Area LLC, a division of Sares Regis Group of Northern California, was granted approval from the Redwood City, City Council for a new residential community featuring 56 townhomes at 505 East Bayshore Road in Redwood City, California.

Located at the entrance to the emerging Bair Island neighborhood, the new residential development will include 56 townhouses, including eight below-market-rate units. Designed by Dahlin Group Architecture, the two-, three-, and four-bedroom townhomes, ranging from roughly 1.3k sf to 1.9k sf, will be divided between nine buildings consisting of three-story wood-framed structures. Homes will feature outdoor areas including patios & balconies, and two-car garages.

The 2.54-acre site, currently home to Alan Steel, will be demolished to make way for the new townhomes. The townhomes will be all-electric, feature solar panels, EV charging and other sustainable features.

The residential development will add public access to the Bayfront and include a new inner trail with a boardwalk design. This new trail will also provide connections to Bayshore Rd and a neighboring development and offer homeowners direct access to the Bay Trail system. An off-site street and trail improvement will substantially improve pedestrian and bicycle safety in the area.

505 East Bayshore aligns with Redwood City’s General Plan intent for a mixed-use waterfront neighborhood on Bair Island. This Gateway project will beautify the entrance to Bair Island, adding over 100 new trees. The site’s elevation will be raised to address future floods and sea level rise.
