Morgan Hill Hotel Project Receives Unanimous Approval from City’s Planning Commission

5/03/16

Granada Hotel, a new four-story, contemporary-style boutique hotel project situated in the heart of downtown Morgan Hill, CA, was unanimously approved by the city’s planning commission last Tuesday, April 26. The project now moves on to the city council for final approval.

The project is being developed by Frank Leal of Leal Vineyards. The architect is designed by KTGY Architecture + Planning.

Granda Hotel will contain 60 gues rooms, targeted towards Silicon Valley business travelers, plus the growing tourism trade developing around the city’s emerging wine industry and sports. Owner Frank Leal is also renovating the neighboring Granada Theater.

According to Manny Gonzalez, FAIA, LEED AP and principal with KTGY, “The Granada Hotel and the adjacent theater will serve as downtown Morgan Hill’s centerpiece and will create a new anchor to the ‘Main Street retail area’ attracting local residents and tourism to the revitalizing neighborhood.”

The upscale, design-oriented full-service hotel features an all-inclusive facility for weddings. A unique rehearsal dinner flex space within the florist work area where guests can dine surrounded by their wedding flowers is among the specialized amenities. Guests will also be able to sample and select their food from the best chefs in the high-end food market. A special (high-heel friendly) turf lawn allows flexibility to accommodate outdoor wedding ceremonies and other events. The hotel will also feature a large conference room, vintage wine bar, spa and fitness center, banquet hall and valet service.

Guests of the hotel will also enjoy a resort-style pool and deck, communal outdoor living room and lounge areas and a rooftop garden that will be used to grown organic vegetables for the hotel’s restaurant. Gonzalez said that the guest rooms will be spacious and luxurious.

“The building’s architectural design thoughtfully marries the traditional with the modern,” said Gonzalez. “We have incorporated materials that reference the local natural palate including vintage brick veneer throughout the overall design. Innovative materials and a Krion façade system with translucent panels create a dynamic facade with integrated lighting.”
