ABOUT US
ABOUT RENTV.COM

4/01/10
With its distinctive, branded style of reporting on the commercial real estate industry, RENTV has become one of the most trusted sources of industry news since its founding in 1998. It was launched by Steve Bloom, a broker in LA who had also worked for developers in NYC, who saw that the industry needed new, more exciting forms of media content. The company’s first product, launched in October 1998, was the RENTV.com web site, which has since grown to cover all of California, the Pacific Northwest and the Southwest, with separate sections for Retail, Multifamily, Finance and Property Management News.

Because of its revolutionary approach to reporting on the commercial real estate industry and its pioneering efforts in creating cost-effective online advertising opportunities for the industry, RENTV, now led by Mr. Bloom and Allen Wolfsheimer, former publisher of the California Real Estate Journal, has become one of, if not the most popular web site for this business in the region. As of July 2007, over 20,000 professionals access RENTV each month, over 12,000 professionals receive RENTV’s email newsletters, and the company’s web site generates about 12,000 user sessions each week. From the beginning, the main revenue source has been from advertising on the web site and in the emails.

In 2002, the company began producing its video news programs. The first was titled The Renaissance in Downtown Los Angeles, which was followed by programs about El Segundo, Century City, Howard Hughes Center, Irvine Spectrum and South Orange County. In addition, the company has produced three programs covering the ICSC Conferences in Las Vegas, as well as promotional videos for commercial real estate firms. All of the RENTV productions can be viewed free of charge, via video streaming, in the RENTV Video Programs section of the web site. If you have a video project in mind that might be of value to our viewers, or which sheds light on a topic or area of interest, please contact Steve Bloom at 424-419-4021.

Besides the free Daily News in each of the categories mentioned above, RENTV also offers an Executive Subscription which, for $149 per year, provides several types of in-depth reports as well as discounted access to the Archives of all the news stories written since 1999. These reports, further detailed in the Executive Subscriber Membership page, are: Hot Transactions, Tenants in the Market, SpaceJamz, Development Site and Properties on the Market. Each report covers a specific market, such as Orange County, West Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. The geographic areas covered in the reports are rotated, with most reports being updated about once a year. RENTV typically publishes two reports a month.

In 2006, the company acquired Sublease.com, a national online listing service for smaller commercial spaces available for lease or sublease. The site, which RENTV re-vamped and re-launched in early 2007, is totally free for prospects to search for listings, without any log-in or registration needed. And we’ve made placing a listing just as easy, with extremely low monthly rates for brokers, owners or anyone with commercial space for lease.

And in 2007, with our new, expanded and improved RENTV web site, our other classified ad sections – Property Listings, Job Ads and Service Directories – are now more user-friendly, efficient and effective.

The RENTV team is made up of the following folks, who work hard to bring you all of this content and our other valuable industry services each and every business day. If you’re interested in becoming part of our exciting and growing information empire, we are looking for creative, team-oriented, real estate folk to help us continually improve and expand the site. Please use the contact page to inform us of your interest.
