Rockefeller Group has begun construction on Airway Industrial Park, a 135.6k sf distribution center situated on a 7.81-acre site in Otay Mesa. Rockefeller Group purchased the site in March 2020 and, once complete, the building will be the company’s first development in the South San Diego industrial market.
Working closely with architectural firm Ware Malcomb, Rockefeller Group designed a building that was unique to Otay Mesa’s specific market demands.
“The key differentiator of our building is definitely in its design, which incorporates much more truck and trailer parking than most of the existing product in the market,” said Michael Sajjadi, Vice President, Design & Construction. “Even though the building is in the smaller to medium size range, we were able to incorporate ample parking by designing a 185-foot concrete truck yard with 23 truck trailer stalls without sacrificing functionality of the building.”
The building also includes 137 auto parking spaces which will provide for a significant workforce. Completion of Airway Industrial Park is expected in June 2021.
Rich Kwasny and Bob Mooney of Colliers International represent Rockefeller Group for the marketing of the project, which will be available for lease or sale. The general contractor is Dempsey Construction.
