BofI Federal Bank has leased 160k sf at two Irvine Company properties in La Jolla UTC. The company also announced it will rebrand its name to Axos Bank come October 1.
The technology-driven financial services company will occupy nearly 140k sf at The Plaza in La Jolla UTC, a six-building, 17-acre business campus. The firm will also take an additional 22k sf in nearby Eastgate. The company’s lease includes building top signage at Pacifica Tower and the 17th and 18th penthouse floors, which haven’t been on the market for 30 years. The Plaza is now 95% leased.
Terms of this transaction were not disclosed. Since first moving into Irvine Company offices in 2012, the company has expanded seven times at The Plaza and Eastgate, more than quadrupling its overall San Diego presence.
The Plaza features three towers and three campus-style office buildings with 825k sf of premium workspace nestled within a lush, park-like setting. It also offers abundant on and off-site amenities for today’s forward-thinking businesses whose employees blend work and life like never before.
The project also includes two Irvine Company signature offerings: KINETIC, a state-of-the-art fitness center and The Commons, a vast open-air workspace with complimentary Wi-Fi. It also offers on-site dining at Rick Bayless’ Red O restaurant and Specialty’s Café, and is adjacent to the newly revitalized Westfield UTC.
