West Elm has inked a lease for a new store in the in the heart of Solana Beach’s eclectic Cedro’s Design District in North San Diego County. The new store, expected to open by fall of this year, will be the anchor retailer at 212 South Cedros Avenue, a soon-to-be renovated, street-front retail project.
West Elm, a member of Williams–Sonoma Inc portfolio of brands, will occupy nearly 11k sf at the project. Additional available retail spaces totaling 5.6k sf are still available.
The property is owned by Brixton Capital, a local San Diego investor, who bought the 16.6k sf project in January of last year. The property is currently undergoing major exterior, interior and landscape renovations that will revitalize the space. The property has a long history on Cedros and was originally developed as a roller rink in the 1970s and in 1982 was converted into the Antique Mall.
CBRE’s Carrie Bobb and Scott Muller represented West Elm in the transaction. This will be West Elm’s second store in San Diego. West Elm’s first San Diego location opened in Westfield’s Mission Valley Center East.
Dave Hagglund and Robert Gunness, also with CBRE, repped Brixton Capital. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
