San Diego’s Grubb & Ellis|BRE Commercial has formed a strategic partnership with Sandra Clark, who will lead the firm’s new Project and Relocation Management group. Clark, Founder and Principal of Space Matters, a locally based project management and relocation services firm, has an established reputation for providing the tenant community superb and comprehensive service for nearly 20 years.
As part of Grubb & Ellis|BRE Commercial, Clark will continue to provide clients with cost-effective project management services. These offerings encompass construction management, furniture, fixtures and equipment coordination, and relocation management services.
Space Matters has provided services to Grubb & Ellis|BRE Commercial for all three of its offices in San Diego County for approximately 10 years. According to President and CEO John Frager, the highly successful relationship with Space Matters led naturally to the decision of creating a strategic partnership with Clark in order to further diversify the firm’s service offerings.
“Businesses require a facility that supports day-to-day and ongoing operational needs. Sandra provides hands-on management of the entire relocation process with direction and organization throughout every phase,” said Frager. “Offering our clients project management in addition to our brokerage and financial expertise provides another facet of service that will help them achieve and exceed their business and financial objectives.”
According to Clark, her services and expertise help clients to minimize downtime and maintain productivity during a move, which translates into direct cost savings. She assists clients in identifying specific facility characteristics that meet their functional requirements for current and future needs, develops relocation programs and interfaces as the client representative with all members of the project team.
More specifically, Clark coordinates the efforts of designers, space planners, contractors, suppliers and moving companies to ensure that all requirements are honored with minimum disruptions to a client’s company. She also assists in selecting vendors, and then works directly with those vendors on the client’s behalf, unlike other project management firms that leave tenants to select vendors on their own.
Since starting Space Matters in 1989, Clark has represented hundreds of clients occupying over 15 msf of space with diverse aspects of their relocation projects. Previously, Clark held management positions for a local commercial subcontracting firm as well as the San Diego office of Redwood City-based Glenborough Corporation. Clark also spent several years in Seattle, WA, where she was responsible for the management and leasing of over 700k sf of high-rise and suburban real estate.
