Stifel Nicolas & Company Inc agreed to a lease for 17.8k sf of office space in Newport Beach. Stifel, a full-service brokerage and investment banking firm and one of the county’s largest underwriters of tax-exempt municipal bonds, will occupy the entire fifteenth floor at 520 Newport Center Drive.
Based in St. Louis and established in 1890, Stifel has a total of 400 offices throughout the United States, including 60 branches in the Western United States. The new space will accommodate approximately 70 employees in April of 2015, some of which will come from a smaller office in Newport Beach.
The Class A, LEED-certified office building is owned by The Irvine Company and contains 331k sf of space over 21 floors. Completed in July 2014, the building is designed to neutralize heat load and maximize natural light with high-performance glass throughout.
Designed in Roman Classico travertine style, the building has 10’-to-11’ ceilings, lush landscaping, outdoor workspaces, and two entry promenades. It has extensive use of floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of Catalina, Newport Back Bay, Big Canyon Country Club and Crystal Cove State Park. It’s located across the street from Fashion Island with 40 dining options and 200 specialty stores.
CBRE’s Andy Nott represented the tenant in the lease. Terms of the deal were not given out.
