Discount retailing giant Costco has just opened a new 154k sf store at the popular Bella Terra retail center in Huntington Beach. Costco’s new full-format store is located on the northwest portion of the Bella Terra property, at 7562 Center Ave. Owned by DJM Capital Partners, Bella Terra is an 800k sf retail center set on 44 acres with more than 70 shops and restaurants.
The new Costco features a gas station, fresh bakery, optical department, 1-hour photo, tire center, hearing aid center, fresh deli and a food court, along with such staples as fresh meat, produce and fine wine and liquor. It replaces a former Mervyn’s building and has created about 225 jobs.
The warehouse is the 119th Costco location in California, 435th in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and 602nd worldwide. Costco has 65 million cardholders throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and Japan.
The new store is adjacent to The Village at Bella Terra development, currently under construction. The res project is comprised of multifamily residential buildings offering 467 apartments, 15 percent of which will be affordable housing units. The Village at Bella Terra is designed with courtyards and other common areas. It will offer residents a host of amenities and structured parking, which will also provide a buffer between Costco and the residential building. Construction of The Village is expected to be completed in summer 2013.
