In honor of the athletic achievements of many Southern California real estate professionals, NAIOP SoCal will recognize some of the local leaders who have represented the USA in past Olympics at this year’s annual Night at the Fights event. The 1,000-person event has become one of the most popular real estate networking events in Southern California. The black-tie event will be held on May 15 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.
This year’s theme “An Olympic Experience” was chosen to both signify this year’s Olympic competition in Bejing as well as to provide a forum to recognize athletes who are now part of the local real estate community. Some of the Olympic sports represented by local real estate athletes include water polo, swimming, speed skating, rowing and sailing, among others.
“Night at the Fights, now in its 19th year, is already a significant event for NAIOP SoCal. This year we are going to share a whole new level of success with our peers,” noted Jim Proehl, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of PM Realty Group’s Western division, Board Member of NAIOP SoCal and Chairman of the 2008 Night at the Fights Event.
This exclusive event features two main event eight-round California Golden State Championship title bouts – one male and one female. A Golden State Championship Belt will be awarded to the winner in each of the main events. There will also be a third four-round male boxing bout. This year’s event will also feature footage of past Olympic moments, Grecian Greeters, wine tasting and themed opportunity drawings including an all-expense paid trip to the Greek Isles.
Night at the Fights is an annual fundraiser for NAIOP SoCal’s legislative advocacy, raising funds for efforts that protect and enhance the regional business climate in Southern California. The chapter will allocate these proceeds in support of legislative affairs and issues affecting the commercial real estate industry including the continuing fight against split-roll taxation, California’s water supply and infrastructure problems, efforts to alleviate the transportation and goods movement crisis and environmental regulations. The chapter will also donate $10,000 to the Building Block Foundation Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing together the real estate community to support at-risk youth in Orange County.
