Related California has broken ground on Prado Family Homes, a 50-unit, five-building affordable housing community in Fountain Valley. The project, estimated for completion in the first quarter of 2022, is being built by R.D. Olson Construction. DNA Architecture + Design Inc and Mannigan Design Inc are responsible for the design and architecture work on the project.
Located at 16790 S Harbor Blvd, Prado Family Homes will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging from 500 sf to 1k sf. The buildings, ranging from one to three stories in height, will provide more than 37k sf of total living space. Community amenities will include a leasing office, community kitchen, laundry room, outdoor play structures catering to various ages, workout equipment, shade structures, BBQ areas and covered parking.
The community is located near Fountain Valley’s Mile Square Regional Park, which offers three soccer fields, three baseball and three softball diamonds, an archery range, three golf courses, a nature area, two fishing lakes and picnic areas for the public to enjoy. The site for Prado Family Homes previously housed a recreation vehicle and boat storage lot.
“Southern California is facing an extreme housing shortage, and projects like Prado Family Homes are essential in providing more affordable housing options for area families,” said Bill Wilhelm, president of R.D. Olson Construction.
