Meta Housing has broken ground on Lamp Lodge, an 82-unit affordable housing community in Downtown Los Angeles. Located at 660 Stanford Ave, the seven-story, contemporary-style building will provide an affordable housing solution for area residents. Construction is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2022.
Consisting of 74 studios, seven one-bedroom and one two-bedroom apartments sharing a common breezeway, all units will include a refrigerator, dishwasher and range as well as energy efficient windows. Amenities will include an onsite laundry room, community center and open courtyard for residents to enjoy. Totaling 49k sf, the first two levels will be double podium concrete, while levels three to seven will be fire rated wood framing construction.
The project is being built by R.D. Olson Construction, with architect KFA Architecture and JAG Interiors Inc handling design work. It is being funded by both JP Morgan Bank and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. Previously, the site housed a four-story apartment community.
“Given the current housing shortage and rising cost of living, affordable housing projects like Lamp Lodge are critical for the Los Angeles community,” said Bill Wilhelm, president, R.D. Olson Construction. Additional affordable housing developments from R.D. Olson Construction include Citrine Apartments, a 37-unit community located adjacent to Hotel Trio in the heart of California’s Sonoma County wine region, and Citrea Apartments, a 55-unit project in Fullerton.
