Stirling Capital Investments has completed construction of a 466.3k sf building expansion for Newell Brands at Southern California Logistics Airport (SCLA). The expansion space was completed ahead of schedule, and is Newell’s second expansion at this building since it signed its original lease for 407.6k sf in 2006, bringing the building’s total size to 1.05 msf of space.
Newell Brands received its certificate of occupancy for the expansion space at SCLA’s Distribution Centre 3 eight months after signing a 10-year lease extension in July 2018, making the building’s delivery date two weeks early despite the difficult weather experienced this winter. The building now features 78 dock-high doors with a 32-foot-clear height. Newell first expanded its footprint at SCLA in 2012, adding 176.8k sf, for increased regional and national distribution of Newell products. Lease terms will have Newell in the new building through 2029.
“We could not have expedited this project without the City of Victorville’s pro-business attitude, working closely with our dedicated team of contractors and consultants,” said Dougall Agan, President and CEO of Stirling Development. “Victorville is one of the most business-friendly cities in Southern California, and it’s partnerships like these that allow for swift construction deliveries, and cost-effective, high-quality facilities.”
Newell’s expansion at SCLA is a testament to the continued economic growth in the region. Completion of this expansion brings Newell’s total square footage occupied at SCLA to over 1.4 msf, while continuing to add more jobs to the local economy.
Stirling has completed more than 4.5 msf of Class A industrial warehouse and distribution facilities at SCLA. In addition to Newell Brands, the parent company for brands such as Rubbermaid®, Graco ®, Mr. Coffee®, Food Saver®, Yankee Candle® and Sharpie®, other corporate tenants at SCLA include Plastipak Packaging, Dr. Pepper / Snapple, Red Bull, Mission Foods, Sparkletts, General Electric, FedEx and more.
