Stockdale Capital Partners’ planned The Campus at Horton will create a vibrant mixed-use high-tech office, lifestyle retail and food & beverage experience in the heart of downtown San Diego. The project, still waiting on approval, is expected to create 3,000-4,000 new innovation economy jobs created by the redevelopment and contribute to the $1.8 bil dollars in annual economic activity generated in just the first phase of the redevelopment.
The development will transform the former Nordstrom building, which includes adding an additional 150k sf of space to the existing building and creating a new contemporary-designed exterior. Inside, the building will feature forward-thinking and light-filled workspaces that take advantage of Southern California’s indoor/outdoor lifestyle and maximize expansive views of downtown and the San Diego Bay.
According to Mark Cafferty, President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, the existing open floor plans and expansive square footage of the current Horton Plaza are perfectly suited to the design and layout of modern office spaces.”
The project will feature an Amenity Deck that will take the place of the current and vacant food court. The Campus at Horton will feature several food and beverage experiences, curated greenscaped outdoor areas and health and wellness concepts that will cater to community members and future onsite employees. Throughout the planned project, buildings and amenities will be included that incorporate urban greenbelts and tree lines, honor the property’s original character and better connect the entire site into the fabric of downtown San Diego.
The Campus at Horton is being considered by the City of San Diego’s Economic Development and Intergovernmental Relations committee, with eventual City Council consideration in the coming weeks. Stockdale Capital Partners aims to begin construction later this year, with plans to complete The Campus at Horton in 2020.
