SoCal brokerage veteran Joseph M. Vargas has joined Colliers International as Senior Managing Director for its Greater Los Angeles Region. In his new role, Vargas will serve as the firm’s market leader for four key markets in the region.
Vargas will be responsible for driving the company’s strategic growth in this major U.S. market, focusing on new business and talent acquisition and retention. This strategic addition is another step forward in the firm’s ambitious five-year plan to double the company by 2020.
Vargas previously served as the president of Cushman & Wakefield’s West Region and as an executive vice president with Lee & Associates, where he worked to expand that firm’s presence into tier-one markets in the U.S. His new role with Colliers will bring under his purview the day-to-day operations of four key offices – Inland Empire (Ontario), South Bay (El Segundo) City of Commerce and City of Industry.
Vargas, a two-time Olympian and a silver medalist in water polo at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, and a collegiate competitor at UCLA, will be based in the firm’s South Bay office.
