Grindr, one of the world’s largest social network apps, has inked a lease for 18.1k sf of space on the 14th floor at the Pacific Design Center’s RedBuilding, in the heart of West Hollywood. The firm is expanding and relocating from its current space at 6725 Sunset Blvd. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 400k sf RedBuilding is one of three buildings on the Pacific Design Center campus owned by Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation. The Class A, creative office building, designed by architect Cesar Pelli, FAIA, is highly suited for premier businesses, including entertainment, fashion, technology and the arts.
Founded in 2009 and now with a global reach, Grindr is a social lifestyle network that provides research and information on lifestyle trends and promotes health and wellness activities, as well as provides other quality-of-life information. This service has also expanded into other facets of to provide social and professional networking functions similar to Linkedin, Twitter, Google Plus, Facebook and Tinder all rolled into one. Members can use Grindr to find a job and keep up with professional contacts, for real-time communications with friends and followers, or connect for other social activities.
This relocation will better enable Grindr to increase its reach within the communities they serve, evolving into more of a lifestyle brand for the LGBT community. The firm will bring close to 100 employees to their new location.
The RedBuilding is occupied mostly by creative tenants. Recent additions include: Clique Media, a media and commerce company behind popular fashion, beauty and lifestyle websites; Viceroy Hotel Group, known for its unique two unique Viceroy Hotels and Resorts and Urban Retreat brands; Abrams Artists Agency, a diversified talent and literary agency; Whalerock Industries, Inc., an independent media/technology company that delivers world-class content across all devices and has strategic alliances with MGM, Starcom MediaVest, P&G, AOL, YouTube and Microsoft; Gaumont International Television, a producer of high-quality drama and comedy television programming for U.S. and international markets; AllSaints USA, a UK-based, global high-end clothing retailer; and Criteria Corp, a leading provider of web-based pre-employment testing services.
Marc Horowitz, Cohen Brothers Realty’s senior vice president/national director of leasing, and RedBuilding’s Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) brokerage team, including Managing Director Josh Wroble, represented the property owner, Cohen Brothers Realty. NGKF’s Senior Managing Director Ryan Harding represented Grindr in the transaction.
