Engineering firm Stantec recently inked a renewal/expansion lease for 29k sf of space at Gateway Plaza, a 13-story, 281.9k sf, Class A office property in Pasadena. The lease brings occupancy at Gateway Plaza to 100%.
Stantec has been a tenant at Gateway Plaza since 2014, occupying slightly more than 26k sf of space. The growing company’s newest lease terms are for seven years, as it will be expanding into the building’s remaining vacancy of nearly 3k sf for a total of 29k sf. Upon completion of tenant improvements, Stantec will expand into the new space, beginning in October 2019.
Located at 300 North Lake Ave, Gateway Plaza features Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star certification and LEED Gold certification, and provides tenants with an exterior plaza with landscaping, fountains, and outdoor seating, on-site property management, and 24-hour security staff.
Andrew Berk and Chase Gordon with Avison Young represented the landlord, Gateway Plaza. Stantec was represented by Stantec in-house exec Lee Kiziak, as well as Matt Perrigue and DJ Goldberg with JLL. The lease value was not disclosed.
“In addition to the growing tech community here, the City of Pasadena has come into its own as a regional leader for attracting architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms,” comments Gordon. “This deal supports the AEC sector’s continued and growing presence in the Pasadena marketplace. The city currently has in excess of 500k sf of space occupied by this particular industry segment – including ACCO’s corporate headquarters, which moved from Glendale in April of this year.” Tetra Tech Inc, DPR, C.W. Driver and Pankow also maintain their corporate headquarters in Pasadena.
