Manhattan Village Inks Two New Restaurant Tenants

Two new restaurants have signed leases at Manhattan Village, the 44-acre, 573k sf indoor/outdoor retail center in the affluent South Bay city of Manhattan Beach owned by DWS Group. These latest deals are with dan by ROC (Republic of China) and edo Little Bites.

dan is the new concept from ROC. This home-cooked Chinese eatery specializing in dumplings and noodles will open a 3.5k sf location in the Village Shops featuring an interior of bright woods and modern furnishings. dan by ROC is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2020.

As the newest creation of Chef Edoardo Baldi of world famous e.baldi, edo Little Bites will occupy a 642 sf restaurant space in the Plaza area of the Village Shops at the center. The restaurant will recreate the love, aromas and art of some of Baldi’s favorite childhood foods . The café will be an avenue to explore beyond the more traditional Tuscan recipes. edo Little Bites is scheduled to open the Fall of 2020.

Kristin Grove and Devin Klein with JLL lead the leasing effort and secured the tenants.

These leases continue the development and leasing momentum at Manhattan Village. In January, the second phase of redevelopment started, which includes the Village Shops encompassing 60k sf of retail/restaurant space, two parking decks, a large green space for community gatherings, a water feature, clock tower, unique seating areas and lush landscaping. Completion of the Village Shops is scheduled for 2021.

Late last year, 12 Tesla Supercharger stations were installed in the first of three parking decks. In October, JLL announced it signed a lease with restaurant group Cocinas Y Calaveras LLC which will open Mercado Manhattan Beach, a popular Mexican dining concept. Also, in October, California Pizza Kitchen opened their newest prototype, and relocated to the new Village Shops. Joey Manhattan Beach and Urban Plates have also signed leases and M•A•C (Make-Up Art Cosmetics), Origins and Holly and Hudson Nail Lounge all opened in 2018.

At the heart of Manhattan Village’s redevelopment is a 60k sf expansion of curated open-air retail and restaurant space, adjacent to a fully renovated enclosed shopping center with an already strong tenant mix. A new full-service, upscale Macy’s replaced the previous two locations, becoming one consolidated 168k sf store.

When complete, the new Manhattan Village will be a 648k sf indoor-outdoor dining and shopping experience introducing modern luxury and coastal-chic, while embracing the allure and hometown feel of the West Coast lifestyle. The center is already home to several of the region's top retailers, including; Apple, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Macy's, Sephora, Victoria's Secret, Tommy Bahama and Kiehl's. The project is being developed in phases and is slated for full completion in 2021.
