Residential Re-Use Project in LA’s Koreatown District Opens 50% Preleased

11/16/16

Jamison has opened The Abbey, a 110-unit apartment complex at 3550 West Sixth St in Los Angeles’ Koreatown district.

The Abbey, the adaptive reuse of a six-story 1927 office and parking building, features a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units ranging in size from 550 sf to 1.1k sf. The open floor plans with ceiling heights of up to 14 feet have been designed with wood floors, stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, Kohler plumbing fixtures, private balconies, and in-unit washers and dryers. Common area amenities include a fully-equipped fitness center, and a 4k sf rooftop deck replete with landscaped dining and seating areas, bocce ball court, fire pits, barbecue stations, a 70” flat screen TV and projectors, and unobstructed views of the Hollywood Hills.

The Abbey opens with 50% of the units preleased with the remainder expected to be rented by the end of the year, according to Garrett Lee, president of Jamison Properties, the firm’s real estate development arm.

“The real allure of The Abbey is its prime location in LA’s hottest neighborhood,” said Lee. “With an incredible social infrastructure that includes some of the city’s most popular nightclubs, bars and restaurants, Koreatown is on the shortlist for people looking for a vibrant city living experience. Exciting venues such as Chapman Plaza, The Line Hotel, the Normandie Hotel and Equitable City Center are all within one block of The Abbey’s front doors.”

The Abbey is also one block from the Wilshire/Normandie Purple Line Metro Station, Zion grocery store and a host of additional restaurants, offices and neighborhood-serving retail and professional services, which make it the perfect location for young professionals and working families.

This is the second multifamily project developed by Jamison, which currently has six other projects under construction including Circa, a 648-unit luxury apartment complex at 1200 Figueroa across from LA Live, developed in partnership with Hankey Investment Co and Falcon California Investments.

Jamison, one of the largest private commercial office landlords in Los Angeles, entered the multifamily market in 2013 with the 127-unit Westmore, the successful conversion and lease up of a former 12-story office building on 3075 Wilshire Blvd.
