The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Greater Los Angeles chapter has named The Sunset “The Outstanding Building of the Year” (TOBY) in the “Under 100,000 Square Feet” category for 2015. The award recognizes outstanding commercial office buildings and excellence in building management and operations. The 71.1k sf office building is owned by Broadreach Capital Partners and managed by Transwestern.
The property is located at 8560 W. Sunset Blvd, on the world renowned “Sunset Strip” in West Hollywood. After undergoing multi-million dollar renovations in 2001 and 2008 that included a new exterior designed by Nadel Architects, the 10-story, former Playboy building is now a Class A boutique office tower and home to an eclectic mix of entertainment and technology-related firms. The Sunset is part of a mixed-use development that includes a 107k sf retail plaza with premier tenants such as H&M, Equinox, Caffe Primo and SoulCycle and an underground parking garage with room for 1,000 cars.
In 2013, the building achieved LEED® Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and has been benchmarked by ENERGY STAR® for the last three years, achieving a score of 89 in 2015. Transwestern Senior Property Manager Pamela Smith and her team manage the property.
