SoCal real estate veteran Joseph M. Vargas has returned to Lee & Associates where he will act in a national advisor role. Based in Los Angeles, Vargas will report to Jeff Rinkov, CEO of Lee & Associates, the largest broker-owned commercial real estate firm in the nation.
Vargas, who has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience, comes over from Cushman & Wakefield, where he was West Region President. At C&W from 1998 to 2014, Vargas also served as Executive VP of the Southwest and Executive and Senior Managing Director, Southern California. His corporate and transaction success include active roles in the acquisitions of Matlow-Kennedy, San Diego Corporate Real Estate Advisors and Burnham Commercial Real Estate Services.
In 1991, Vargas was President of Lee & Associates South Bay office in Los Angeles, where he led business development, recruiting and retention. From 1984 to 1991, he was VP of Grubb & Ellis Los Angeles South Bay.
A graduate of UCLA, Vargas is a member and has served on the boards of AIR, NAIOP and LAHQ. He is also a member of ULI, SIOR and LACRA. Vargas also was a member of the United States Olympic Water Polo teams in 1980 (boycott year) and 1984, where the team won the Silver Medal. He was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1992.
