Oakmont to Build Green Logistics Center in Redlands

2/06/08

A new state-of-the-art distribution center is in the works for the Inland Empire, with this latest project, in an infill location in Redlands, designed to meet the requirements for LEED® certification from the US Green Building Council’s (USGBC). The $16.5 mil industrial warehousing facility, called the Alabama Street Logistics Center, is being developed by Atlanta-based developer Oakmont Industrial Group, which plans to start construction in mid-February.

The 225.1k sf project is located on approximately 11 acres of land at 9090 North Alabama St in Redlands, a location within close proximity to the I-10 and I-210 Freeways. Whittier-based Oltmans Construction Co, one of the oldest and largest industrial contractors in the region, was tapped as the project’s general contractor. Chris Bell, Oltmans’ designated project manager for the development, noted that the project is slated for a September 2008 completion.

Dennis Roy, the project’s architect and Principal of RGA Office of Architectural Design of Irvine, pointed out that key “Green” building shell features will include day warehouse lighting and water efficient landscaping. Roy also mentioned that other building amenities will include an ESFR fire suppression system, on-site parking for 45 trailers, full concrete truck courts, 32-foot minimum ceiling clear heights, 36 dock-high positions and on-site parking for 124 cars. Distinguishing visual elements of the building include a staggered façade, two-story glass at the entry area and architecturally enhanced panel accents.

Bill Helm, Eloy Cova and Eric Hutchins of Lee & Associates’ Redlands’ office are the exclusive marketing agents for the Alabama Street Logistics Center. The single-tenant building is available on a for lease or sale basis.
