Denver’s URS Center, a Class A office building located at 8181 East Tufts Ave, has won the prestigious International TOBY Award for “Outstanding Building of the Year” in the category of 100,000 to 249,999 square feet. The building, owned and managed by Westcore Properties, earned first place among eight finalists, and was recognized for representing the best in its class for ownership, management and operational practices.
Westcore Properties acquired URS Center in 2006 and implemented a number of improvements and practices that earned the building LEED Silver recognition in 2010.
URS Center tied for the first place international award with 200 Kimball Dr, a five-story, 175k sf Class A office building in Parsippany, New Jersey. The management teams of both properties were cited for utilizing tremendous ingenuity and people skills to build exceptional performance in these buildings.
URS Center is a contemporary, six-story Class A building featuring a spectacular two-story lobby with a glass atrium, premium finishes, numerous amenities and energy efficient practices. Tenants enjoy underground parking, locker and shower facilities, an on-site deli and a full-time day porter. The building is 98 percent leased to tenants including URS Corporation, Century Business Services and Employee Mutual Casualty Company.
TOBY Awards are the most prestigious and comprehensive recognition programs of their kind in the commercial real estate industry. Award honorees are scored based on building inspection, description and standards; community impact; tenant and employee relations; energy conservation, environmental regulatory and sustainability; emergency preparedness and security standards; and personnel training.
