GBD Architects inked a renewal/expansion lease in Portland that boosted its total space to 16.5k sf at the Brewery Blocks II, a five-block shopping and professional destination in the heart of Portland’s Pearl District. The expansion included 1.6k sf on the third floor in addition to their fourth floor offices.
Established in 1969 in Portland, GBD’s extensive work in the city has included the Brewery Blocks, a sustainable, mixed-use, multi-block project that has garnered international attention for its urban design qualities. Partnering with esteemed developer Gerding Edlen, the former site of the Blitz-Weinhard Brewery was repurposed into today’s thriving urban epicenter. The Brewery Blocks recently won the prestigious 2014 Urban Land Institute’s Global Award for Excellence.
Chris Johnson and MaryKay West of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson, along with broker Carter Beyl, represented the tenant in the deal. GBD originally took space at the project back in 2002, afer the redevelopment project was completed. Senior Vice President Eric Haskins of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the landlord, MEPT Brewery Block 2 LLC, in this latest transaction.
