Darren Matte, the owner of the acclaimed Per Diem in San Francisco and Harvest restaurant in Danville, has purchased a well located, high identity retail/restaurant property in downtown Danville, for $2.45 mil in an off-market transaction. The property, located at 501 Hartz Ave, at Church St, was sold by Genesis Holdings LLC and HJB Restaurant Group Inc.
Cameron Baird of Cushman & Wakefield arranged the acquisition of both the building and the business that was known as Basil Leaf Café for the buyer, Darren Matte. An expected opening for the new restaurant, Cocina Hermanas, is scheduled for mid November.
The Mexican cuisine establishment will marry well-known Mexican street food and family dishes with a philosophy of fresh, local and sustainable ingredients. A new bar stretching the front of the restaurant will also provide diners with an extensive selection of mescals, tequilas and specialty cocktails to complement their dining experience
The seller was self-represented in the negotiations.
Baird said, “Mr. Matte is an active member of the Alamo/Danville community and saw an opportunity to offer a greater selection of great food and hospitality to his neighbors and downtown shoppers. He will rebrand and remodel the location which will be named Cocina Hermanas after his three daughters.”
