CBRE Opens New Oakland Office

4/06/17

CBRE Group has opened a new office in Oakland, in the core of the city’s downtown CBD. The space, on the 18th floor of 1111 Broadway, is part of CBRE’s global “Workplace360” initiative, the company’s leading-edge approach to workplace strategy designed to promote flexibility, mobility and productivity through technology-enabled, 100 percent free-address and paperless offices.

CBRE’s Oakland office is the third of its seven Bay Area offices to convert to Workplace360, following Palo Alto in March 2016 and the San Jose office in July 2016. The new 9.8k sf office features seamless wireless technology, offers employee choices in where and how they get their work done, and includes amenities such as sit/stand desks, healthy snacks and enhanced individual technology along with panoramic views of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, the 80 Corridor and Downtown Oakland.

CBRE’s move within Downtown Oakland signals a continued commitment to a city where it has a rich history – Oakland was the company’s third office to open back in 1925. Previously, CBRE was located on the 9th floor of 555 12th Street.

The new space will have no assigned desks and a large percentage of the overall footprint dedicated to collaborative workspaces and meeting rooms. Employees will be able to choose where they want to work throughout the day—whether at a desk, in a private huddle room or in the social café area. A focus on technology and a paperless environment further enables employee mobility. Key features of this new Oakland Workplace360 office include:

• Transit proximity: It is located directly over the 12th Street BART station with quick access to freeways.
• Enhanced technology: Supporting a mobile way of working today is a core element of the Workplace360 model, which includes “plug and play” work stations featuring sit-stand desks equipped with dual monitors, “follow me” phones allowing employees to receive phone calls to their direct line from any location via extension mobility and “follow me” printing enabling employees to wirelessly print to any printer in the office.
• Flexible and collaborative workplaces: Eight different types of space to drive productivity and collaboration including offices for a day, focus rooms, workstations, huddle rooms, interactive conference rooms, open team areas, touchdown space, and the Heart—a central collaboration hub including a media wall and a cafe.
• Office building amenities: The 24-story, Class A building is LEED Gold Certified and offers state-of-the-art building systems, restaurant and coffee shop located on the ground floor.
