888 San Mateo, a 158-unit, residential community in San Mateo, was awarded LEED Platinum certification. The multi-family midrise project, developed by Sares Regis Group of Northern California (SRGNC), is only the sixth multifamily community in the United States with over 150 units to receive LEED’s highest recognition.
888 San Mateo is a two-building, luxury apartment community recently completed in January 2014. The transit-oriented development is situated near to numerous public transportation options, notably Caltrain, making its location desirable for commuting Bay Area residents. 888 San Mateo is currently 96% leased and occupied. Average rents are between $2,600 and $4,000 per month.
The community was designed by TCA Architects, and includes underground parking, a pool, spa, fitness center with cardio-theater, yoga and Pilates studio, outdoor kitchen and courtyard lounge, community room and the latest in technological amenities for its residents.
The project’s location makes it exemplary urban-infill, while also ensuring access to variety of alternative transportation options: downtown San Mateo and Burlingame are bike friendly, and 888 San Mateo residents will have easy access to Caltrain.
Contributing to the LEED Platinum certification, every unit is equipped with low-volume water fixtures, low-e windows, R-30 attic insulation, advanced filtration systems and Energy Star appliances. The landscaping is efficiently irrigated to reduce outdoor water-use. Chemical free, low emitting materials were used throughout the interiors, supported by top-notch air filtration and continuous ventilation fans. Nearly all construction waste was sorted and recycled. Supporting the transit-oriented goals of the project are an on-site car share facility, bike storage areas with repair tools, and electric vehicle charging stations.
