SAN FRANCISCO: Kurt Altvater -- Kurt Altvater has joined CB Richard Ellis’ Capital Markets National Loan Sale Advisory Group as Senior Vice President in the San Francisco Bay Area. Altvater brings 25 years of capital markets expertise, most recently as a Senior Vice President with Countrywide Commercial. In his new role, Altvater will assist clients with mortgage loan sales within California and throughout the United States. Altvater will join the National Loan Sales Team whose principals have completed over $20 bil of loan sales and advisory assignments.

As Senior Vice President of Countrywide Commercial, Altvater led loan originations for the Northern California, Northwest and Intermountain regions. While serving in this role, he originated over $1 bil in loans and completed multiple loan sales. Prior to joining Countrywide, Altvater was an originator of CMBS loans for seven years with Bank of America and Nomura Securities.

Prior to originating CMBS loans, he spent six years as a loan workout specialist with The Fuji Bank and Mellon Bank and was responsible for a portfolio of over $600 mil of assets ranging from CBD office, industrial, multifamily, retail, hotel, land, and acquisition development and construction loans in primary, secondary and tertiary markets. SAN FRANCISCO: Bill Fuller -- Bill Fuller has joined Newmark Knight Frank as a Principal in the global real estate services firm's San Francisco office. Over the course of his 20-year career in office landlord and tenant representation, Fuller has participated in negotiating nearly 5 msf of lease transactions valued at $2 bil.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, he worked for 10 years as a leasing and marketing manager for the San Francisco regional office of Hines, where he was responsible for day-to-day leasing/marketing activities for the Houston-based international developer's Bay Area projects. During this period, he co-managed leasing and marketing efforts for the properties of numerous Hines partners, including Nippon Life, UBS Realty Advisors, National Office Partners (a Hines/CalPERS partnership), Sterling American Properties and TIAA-CREF.

Prior to Hines, Fuller was a Senior Leasing Associate with Washington, D.C.-based Cassidy & Pinkard, where he was responsible for leasing commercial office space in the D.C. area. KENTFIELD: Donald Baum -- Donald Baum has been hired as a Managing Director and Broker/Officer of Sperry Van Ness Titan Commercial in Kentfield, a NoCal town located 20 miles north of San Francisco in Marin County. With over 18 years of commercial real estate experience, Baum specializes in the purchase and sale of multifamily, retail, mixed-use and development parcels in the Northern California and Central Valley regions. Baum, an attorney, has helped close over $1 bil in commercial investment transactions over the course of his career. Prior to joining Sperry Van Ness, Baum was a Principal with Ascent Property Investments, sponsoring syndicated commercial real estate investments.

Baum began his real estate career at Miller, Starr & Regalia before being recruited to the executive team at the Marcus & Millichap conglomerate of companies, where he served as

SAN FRANCISCO: Jeff Moeller/Peter Conte -- Jeff Moeller has joined Grubb & Ellis as a Senior Vice President in the company’s Office Group, while Peter Conte joined as an Associate with the Office Group. The two came over from Cushman & Wakefield.

One of the Bay Area’s top commercial real estate professionals, Moeller has brokered approximately $500 mil worth of new lease transactions, investment sales and sublease dispositions totaling more than two million square feet during his 12-year career. Specializing in the high-tech firms that proliferate in the Bay Area, Moeller’s clients have included Hewlett Packard, ABM Industries, Swiss Re and Monster.com. SAN FRANCISCO: Richard Stoll/Carla Scimemi -- Richard Stoll and Carla Scimemi, both from Ritchie Commercial, have joined the San Francisco office of GVA Kidder Mathews. The two collaborate on large scale development projects in the Bay Area.

Stoll, an investment sales and receivership assignment specialist, has been in the commercial real estate industry for 36 years and was most recently a Managing Director for Ritchie Commercial’s San Francisco office. Prior to Ritchie, he was a Vice President at CB Richard Ellis in San Francisco. He holds a Juris Doctor Degree, and, in addition to his brokerage career, he has been a transactional real estate attorney and commercial litigator. His recent project activity includes the sale of a former Coca Cola plant that was sold as a redevelopment site. Stoll will be a Senior Vice President with GVA Kidder Mathews.

Carla Scimemi has been in the industry for 20 years, specializing in office and industrial real estate in the Bay Area. Scimemi, a top producer who is also from Ritchie Commercial’s San Francisco office, will be a Vice President with GVA Kidder Mathews. SAN JOSE: Sofi Choi/Steven Chon/Kevin Klink -- Sofi Choi, Steven Chon and Kevin Klink have been hired by Grubb & Ellis as part of its Transaction Services Group, out of the company’s San Jose office. Choi has joined the company as a Vice President, specializing in hospitality and multifamily properties. She has more than 11 years of property management, development and commercial brokerage experience, ranging from developing a franchise motel, to managing motels, hotels, and golf ranges as well as apartment complexes. Choi comes to Grubb & Ellis from Magnus Group Commercial, where she was a Vice President and Partner. Previously she was with Samsung Semiconductor Inc, where she specialized in marketing and strategic planning.

Chon has also joined the company as a Vice President. He provides strategic consulting services for high net worth clients and Asia-Pacific foreign investors/government organizations with diverse commercial needs, including tenant representation, development, and asset disposition. He joins Grubb & Ellis after four years as Vice President and Principal with Magnus Group Commercial. Previously Chon was a marketing consultant with Frost & Sullivan, an international consultancy in the automotive industry, working with clients in Tokyo, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpar, Singapore and Toronto. He was a frequent contributor to automotive magazines and journals during his consulting career.

Kevin Klink has joined the company as Associate. He specializes in advising Silicon Valley companies on their corporate real estate. Prior to entering the commercial real estate industry, Klink worked for a number of leading electronics companies, including Minolta Corporation and Toshiba Corporation, where he rose to the positions of General Manager and Regional Sales Manager, respectively. WINDSOR: Greg Knoell/Bill Govan -- Basin Street Hospitality, a division of Basin Street Properties, named Greg Knoell General Manager and Bill Govan Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales for the new Hampton Inn & Suites in Windsor. The 116-room hotel, nestled in the heart of Sonoma County’s wine country, is part of the Hilton family of hotels and will open in October 2008.

Knoell was previously the General Manager at Basin Street Hospitality’s Holiday Inn Express in Corning, CA. Prior to that, he served as the General Manager for several hotels including the Hilton Garden Inn in Redding, Holiday Inn in Vallejo, Ramada Inn in Vallejo, and Point Marina Inn in Point Richmond.

Govan joins the Hampton Inn & Suites from Basin Street Hospitality’s Sheraton Sonoma County in Petaluma, where he was the Operations Manager and Director of Catering. Prior to that, he spent a number of years managing the food and beverage services of leading hotels including serving as the dining room manager at the Madrona Manor in Healdsburg, CA, the director of food and beverage at the Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma and the food and beverage manager at The Ahwahnee in Yosemite National Park. Morrow was among the more than 240 commercial real estate professionals who earned the designation by passing the Institute’s Comprehensive Examination, the final element in the designation process. Less than 1 percent of commercial real estate professionals in the world hold the CCIM designation.

Morrow’s commercial real estate knowledge and experience spans two decades in the Sacramento Valley marketplace. He has worked primarily on projects in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado Counties. Morrow’s recent focus includes landlord representation of new construction retail projects, tenant representation, ground leases and pad sales, build-to-suit for tenancy and purchase, leased income investment sales and owner/ user acquisition. SAN FRANCISCO: Rico Cheung/Erik Corrigan -- GVA Kidder Mathews has added two more brokers to its team, Rico Cheung and Erik Corrigan. Cheung will specialize in tenant representation of Life Sciences and Clean/Green Tech businesses, and Corrigan will specialize in office leasing.

Cheung has been in the commercial real estate industry for over 16 years and was the Founder and Principal of TECHNOLOGY Commercial. Prior to that, he was a director of CB Commercial’s Biosciences Group. Corrigan has spent the last five years with NAI BT Commercial where he completed over $40 mil in transactions.

SAN FRANCISCO: Michael E. Hines -- Michael E. Hines has joined GE Real Estate as Senior Director, North America Lending division. Hines will be based in the firm’s San Francisco office and will cover Northern California and the Pacific Northwest region.

In this role, Hines will be responsible for generating and analyzing real estate loan requests for the structured finance and CMBS programs for clients in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, Portland, Seattle and all surrounding markets. He will also lead deal management and customer relations. Hines comes to GE Real Estate from Merrill Lynch Capital, where he held numerous positions, including Director, Region Manager, and Senior Investment Officer. Before that, he was an investment officer with Heller Financial. Earlier in his career, Hines held real estate positions with a number of other firms, including Mutual Benefit Life, Barnett Banks, and Bank One. Posted: 6/3/08

SAN FRANCISCO: Michael Covarrubias -- Michael Covarrubias, chairman and CEO of TMG Partners, took top honors as the San Francisco Business Times 2007 Dealmaker of the Year. The ceremony, which took place at the Palace Hotel, recognized Covarrubias for his multiple successes in regional Bay Area real estate development. Prior to joining TMG Partners in 1988, Covarrubias' spent 17 years with Union Bank, where he was Senior Vice President and Manager of their Silicon Valley Regional Real Estate Center at the time he left them.

TMG Partners was also honored for two other developments. Bay Center, located at 6425-6575 Christie Ave in Emeryville, a multi-tenant Class A office building, won for Best Building Sale/Inner East Bay category. Soma Grand, a mixed-use development which includes 246 condominium homes located at 1160 Mission St in San Francisco, was a finalist in the Community Impact category.

Since its inception in 1984, TMG Partners has acquired and developed urban infill projects in all Bay Area markets. These projects include land acquisition and development, new construction, rehabilitation and historic preservation with a portfolio valued at more than $3 billion. Posted: 6/3/08

SAN FRANCISCO: Whitney Strotz -- NAI BT Commercial Vice President Whitney Strotz, CCIM, has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute. The designation was awarded during the Institute business meetings April 10 in Newport Beach. The CCIM designation is awarded to commercial real estate professionals upon successful completion of a graduate-level education curriculum and presentation of a portfolio of qualifying industry experience.

Strotz, who began his commercial real estate career when he joined NAI BT Commercial in 2002, was recognized as one of the top performers in the firm’s North Bay office. Strotz has helped create the company’s Tenant Solutions practice. He received the North Bay award for most transactions completed in 2004 and 2005 and was named ‘Dealmaker of the Year’ in 2006.

Strotz areas of expertise include leasing and investment advocacy to business owners and real estate investors throughout the Bay Area. He has brokered several transactions involving well known owners/developers such as Equity Office Properties, Pell Development, Monahan Parker, and Inland Real Estate Group, and major firms including Kaiser, BioMarin Pharmaceutical, City of San Rafael, General Electric, Birkenstock USA, Remedy Interactive, and John Deere Landscape to name a few.
