C.W. Driver has begun construction on Fountainview at Gonda, a 460k sf continuing care retirement community for the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging in Playa Vista. Located at 12025 Waterfront Drive, the new West Los Angeles campus will cover 2.5 acres and provide more than 500 Westside seniors with a full range of active living, healthcare and in-home services.
Designed by Gensler, the $100 mil complex will feature 175 luxurious apartment units for independent living as well as 24 assisted living and memory care. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2016.
Discussing the project, Mike Byrne, senior vice president of C.W. Driver, noted, “As the baby boomer generation begins to downsize their current living situation, they look for specialized communities that can offer amenities to match their current lifestyle. This is one such facility that provides residents the opportunity to customize their lifestyle based upon their specific needs.”
Designed to blend comfort and elegance in a resort-like setting, the complex will feature one- and two-bedroom units, ranging in size from 840 sf to 2.4k sf. Units will include full kitchens, washer and dryers, and terraces, while some of the larger units will also include dens and media rooms.
In addition to Byrne, the C.W. Driver project team members include Brian Rush, project director; John Kately, senior project manager; Jim Siebers, senior superintendent; Tanya Shaghafi, senior project engineer; Brian Giambastiani, senior project engineer; and Tom Zaczyk, senior project planner. Additional project consultants include Gensler, SFA Design, Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineer, Donald F. Dickerson Associates, Cini-Little International, Inc., Rowley International Inc. and Aquatic Design Group.
