Compton Seniors Housing Community Completed

9/15/15

Meta Housing Corporation has completed work on Metro @ Compton Senior Apartments, a transit-oriented, affordable housing development available to seniors aged 55+ in Compton. It was developed in partnership with Western Community Housing.

Located at 302 N. Tamarind Ave, south of Rosecrans Ave and just west of Alameda St, the $20.3 mil project contains 75 units. Situated directly across from Compton’s newly developed Senior Activity Center, the community includes amenities such as a large community room, outdoor living room and fountain, and a barbeque. The development’s unit mix is comprised of one- and two-bedroom floor plans.

“There continues to be a tremendous need for affordable housing developments in close proximity to public transportation, especially in urban areas,” says Kasey Burke, President of Meta Housing Corporation. “The Metro @ Compton development transformed a blighted, underutilized vacant lot into 75 high-quality affordable apartment units within walking distance to Compton’s Metro Blue Line light rail and bus station.”

In addition to developing the apartment community, Meta Housing implemented several capital improvements that substantially enhanced pedestrian access to the light rail and bus station.

Metro @ Compton was developed as a Green Point Rated project utilizing a series of sustainable and water efficient features, including solar power and a photovoltaic system that captures sunlight to heat water and generate electricity for the building. Meta Housing also implemented a water-saving gray water system that re-employs water from on-site washing machines for landscape watering.

The community was designed by Y&M Architects and constructed by Optimus Construction Inc under the supervision of construction manager KKG Inc. The property is managed by WSH Management.
