Mooney International Triples Its Space at Chino Airport

3/26/15

Mooney International, a U.S. general aviation aircraft manufacturer based in Kerrville, TX, has expanded its existing Chino Airport operations, increasing to more than 153k sf of space. The aircraft manufacturer leased 50k sf of Hangar 1 and 52.2k sf at Hangar 2 at Chino Airport, located in San Bernardino County.

The transaction roughly triples Mooney’s existing 51k sf of space leased in the airport’s Hangar 4. Mooney will use this expanded space for research and development, design, testing, training, and sales operations.

Mooney is recognized for producing the safest, fastest, and most efficient aircraft. The firm is building on its rich 80-year legacy, having recently launched its three-seat M10 series, adding to its popular M20 series of aircraft.

The firm chose Chino Airport, located in the City of Chino in San Bernardino County near the 71 and 91 freeways, to better serve its customer expansion in the US and into China. Mooney’s line of M20 airplanes are well known as the fastest certified-single engine piston powered aircraft in production. The M10 series consists of two models, the M10J and the M10T. The M10T is targeted at the training market with fixed gear and a 135 hp Continental CD-135 engine. The M10J will provide an upgrade from the M10T airframe with more luxury and amenities for the owner pilot. In addition, the M10J will be equipped with the 155 hp Continental CD-155 engine.

Chino Airport is the largest non-commercial airport with a 20-mile radius in the region making it a leading general aviation airport of choice for independent pilots, students and trainers and corporate users.

“A number of factors drove our decision to locate and expand at Chino Airport. The airport has room for development and greater expansion opportunities, plus it’s well situated at the heart of the Southern California economy and as a gateway to the Pacific Rim,” said Dr. Jerry Chen, CEO, Mooney International. ”We’ve also been able to benefit from access to a well-educated, highly-skilled workforce.” Mooney currently employs 80 people with plans to add at least 20 more employees with an aim to grow to 150 employees by 2016.
